We are very proud of the high quality care and education that the staff in our Early Years Unit provide. Miss Armstrong and Mrs Lamb are our Early Years teachers and Karen is our HLTA. The feedback received from parents and carers is extremely positive and we receive frequent comments about the care, nurture and support given in these important first years in school.
In September, we have a pure Reception aged class. This enables the children to get to know the staff and settle into their new surroundings. In January and April, we admit part -time nursery children into the class, which really helps them to become familiar with 'big school' and provides a great foundation for their early learning.
We have close links with the village Pre-School and transition sessions happen regularly throughout the year.
The vast majority of learning is play based. Language and communication is key to developing the skills needed as the children embark on their school career. Great use is made of the superb outdoor areas that are within the EYFS area as well as the school wildlife garden.
