We are very proud of the high quality care and education that the staff in our Early Years Unit provide. Miss Armstrong and Mrs Lamb are our Reception teachers and Karen is our HLTA. Jodie is our Nursery Leader supported by Mandi and Diane. The feedback received from parents and carers is extremely positive and we receive frequent comments about the care, nurture and support given in these important first years in school.
Children can join our Nursery from age 2 and will join our Reception class in the year they turn 5. There are lots of opportunities during the day for all of our Early Years children to learn and play together in our ‘free-flow- sessions. Older Nursery children may join the reception children from time to time if they are ready for the activities they are doing. This enables a completely seamless transition to Reception and then on through the rest of the school.
The vast majority of learning is play based. Language and communication is key to developing the skills needed as the children embark on their school career. Great use is made of the superb outdoor areas that are within the EYFS area as well as the school wildlife garden.
School Day
Our school day starts at 8:55am and finishes for Early Years at 3:25. Please come into the playground where familiar staff will be ready to greet you. When collecting after a morning session, please come to the school office for 1:25pm to collect your child.
Funding
If you receive 30 hours funding for your child’s nursery place, this will cover the full day at school as described above. A half day will include the lunch break and finish at 1:25pm making 4.5 hours of funded time.
Additional time over and above funded hours will be charged at £7.40 per hour for 2 year olds and £6.20 per hour for 3 and 4 year olds. Charges will be made to the nearest half hour.
Lunch can be ordered from home and a link will be emailed to you so that you can order from the School Grid website. Lunches are charged at £2.60 per day except for those in receipt of free school meals.
An additional voluntary contribution of £1.50 per day will be charged to cover consumables such as arts and craft materials.
Uniform
Our school colours are red, however there is no obligation for nursery children to wear red jumpers unless they wish to. We do have branded uniform available in small sizes from the school office should you be interested. Full details of the uniform policy can be found on our website here.
