Our Curriculum

                                          Our School Curriculum

The Allendale Primary School Curriculum and Skills Map provide a comprehensive overview to our curriculum.  We aim to provide creative and co-operative ways for the pupils to learn together so that all can succeed; we have aimed to create a document based around the key skills we see as relevant for life in the 21st Century; there is more detailed information for each curriculum area on the relevant subject page.

We want to foster in our pupils a love of learning and develop their creativity and critical thinking through skills such as collaboration, research, problem solving, evaluation and reflection. These skills are reflected through the objectives in our subject areas to help us develop confident, resilient , excited and proud learners. This prepares them for the next stage of their learning and to become a dynamic and adaptable workforce with high levels of resilience and problem solving skills.

Although academic expectations are high, we ensure that all pupils experience and value a wide range of activities, with an important emphasis on the Arts, Sporting participation and learning within the environment.

Allendale Primary School follows the National Curriculum but supplements this with a huge range of experiences and opportunities for learning across all areas.

The National Curriculum in England

The National Curriculum provides pupils with an introduction to the essential knowledge that they need to be educated citizens. It introduces pupils to the best that has been thought and said and helps engender an appreciation of human creativity and achievement.

The National Curriculum is just one element in the education of every child. There is time and space in the school day and in each week, term and year to range beyond the National Curriculum specifications. The National Curriculum provides an outline of core knowledge around which teachers can develop exciting and stimulating lessons to promote the development of pupils’ knowledge, understanding and skills as part of the wider school curriculum.

Please click on the Classes link to review the range of teaching and learning that takes place within each class across the curriculum. If you would like any further information about the curriculum, please speak to your child's class teacher or phone the school asking for an appointment.
