Curriculum and Classes

At Allendale Primary we adopt a topic based approach to learning. Topics are usually taught for a half term or term.  They cover a number of curriculum areas and often involve trips and visitors. Teachers use their strengths to deliver lessons in other classes throughout the week; we call this our rotation lesson. In addition we hold specific themed days and weeks such as Health and Well-being Week, National Science and Engineering Week, World Book Day Anti-Bullying Week and arts days where the whole school is involved.

Allendale Primary School offers a curriculum which is balanced and broadly based and enriched, which promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of our pupils, and prepares them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life.

The school curriculum comprises all learning and other experiences that we plan for our pupils. The national curriculum forms one part of the school curriculum. Allendale Primary School follows the National Curriculum which became statutory in September 2014.
