Author Visit - Piers Torday

Monday 5th June 2017

The children of Curlew and Kestrel classes were thrilled to welcome local author Piers Torday into school today. Piers grew up in Northumberland and talked to the children about the wild places nearby that inspired him to write his books. He gave us some handy tips and much inspiration for our own writing as well as relaying many stories of his own, including how he came to receive a letter from Roald Dahl which motivated him to have another go at his own creative story.

The children were able to purchase books, brought in by Cogito Bookstore, and then get them signed by Piers. Thank you to Cogito for helping to organise the visit and for donating a signed copy of each book to the school library.

If anyone wanted to buy a book by Piers but didn't bring in their money, Cogito will have some additional signed copies available in the shop.
